Shannon Feaster launched Athletes Aid in 2020 to harness the power of sport to inspire civic engagement, drive social change, and shape public policy. For more than 20 years, Shannon has designed and delivered public, community, and government relations strategies for sustainable impact.
Shannon was a senior leader in the federal government for 11 years. She was tapped to implement the continuity of operations plan for the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition between administrations. As deputy executive director, Shannon oversaw day-to-day operations, directed national youth sports/nutrition programs, and managed strategic Council member deployments. Shannon previously led the Council's communications and public affairs office.
Shannon also served as deputy director of external affairs for health workforce at the Department of Health and Human Services. There, she spearheaded multi-year marketing campaigns for the National Health Service Corps and NURSE Corps to connect skilled providers with communities in need.
Prior to her civil service, Shannon was a professional racquetball player. After retiring from the tour, she was elected commissioner of the Women's Professional Racquetball Organization where she fiercely fought for players' rights to equal prize money, contract parity, and media exposure.
Shannon is a proud alumna of Howard University and Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
